In response to global supply chain restructuring and international industrial cooperation trends, the Executive Yuan has actively promoted the policy of "Rooted in Taiwan, Expanding Globally" in recent years to help enterprises deepen their international footprint and expand into overseas markets. Aligning with government policy, the National Innovation & Entrepreneurship Association (NiEA) is driving an industrial alliance cooperation mechanism. By connecting the resources of medium-to-large enterprises with small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs), NiEA aims to strengthen supply chain collaboration and enhance the global competitiveness of Taiwanese companies.
On July 18, the National Innovation & Entrepreneurship Association (NiEA) held the "Taiwan-Japan Automotive Industry Strategic Letter of Intent (LOI) Signing Ceremony" at its new office in Jiangzicui, Banqiao District, New Taipei City. The event was witnessed by Li Guan-zhi, Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration (SMESA). NiEA partnered with SIIX Taiwan Co., Ltd. (the local Taiwanese entity of the listed Japanese trading company SIIX Corporation), alongside Taiwanese automotive industry representatives including Hushan Autoparts, Gen-Yuan Technology, and Da-Ji Bus, to jointly establish a Taiwan-Japan automotive industry cooperation platform. This initiative assists Taiwan's automotive supply chain in expanding into the Japanese Automotive Aftermarket (AM), marking a new milestone in market development, technical collaboration, and business matching between both sides.
Promoting Industry Alliances to Create a New Model of Taiwan-Japan Automotive Cooperation
Faced with the global automotive industry's accelerated shift toward electrification, intelligence, and supply chain regionalization, Taiwan's auto parts industry is embracing a critical opportunity for international cooperation.
The industry alliance operates on the core philosophy of "leading small enterprises with large ones, sharing resources, and jointly expanding into overseas markets," encouraging medium-to-large enterprises and SMEs to jointly invest in technical collaboration, market development, and global layout. The establishment of this cooperation platform between NiEA and Japan's SIIX represents a major result of the industry alliance deepening international cooperation. It is hoped that through joint efforts between Taiwanese and Japanese enterprises, more Taiwanese auto parts companies will be driven to expand into the Japanese market, moving Taiwanese businesses from solo ventures toward teamwork and jointly elevating the competitiveness of Taiwanese industries in the global supply chain.
Establishing a Long-Term Cooperation Platform to Drive Comprehensive Market, Technical, and Commercial Collaboration
According to the signed Letter of Intent (LOI), both sides will jointly promote establishing business matching and client onboarding mechanisms for the Japanese market, organizing Japanese market exhibitions, business exchanges, and market promotion activities, evaluating product collaboration in automotive electronics, optical components, sensors, and related fields, as well as jointly exploring diversified cooperation models across OEM, ODM, and AM (aftermarket) sectors, while connecting Japanese industrial resources to assist Taiwanese enterprises in capturing market demand and supply chain opportunities.
Through this platform-based collaboration mechanism, alliance companies will upgrade from single-point market contact to a cross-border cooperation model of jointly developing markets, securing orders, and establishing partnerships—setting a new benchmark for Taiwanese enterprises entering overseas markets together ("fighting as a team").
NiEA Integrates Industry Alliances, Joining Hands with Enterprises to Go Global
In recent years, NiEA has aligned with government efforts to promote industry alliances and has established six major industry alliances: Localized Semiconductors, Auto Components, Healthcare, Digital, Food, and Smart Machinery. Through strategies such as "leading small with large," "cross-domain collaboration," and "joint overseas market expansion," NiEA continuously helps SMEs and startups connect with medium-to-large enterprises and international markets.
This Taiwan-Japan collaboration was spearheaded by the Automotive Components Industry Alliance. In the future, this successful model will be replicated and gradually extended to other industry alliances, forming a cross-industry, cross-market international cooperation platform to help more Taiwanese enterprises jointly build their global footprint.
Jiangzicui New Hub Opening: Creating an International Business Exchange Platform
This signing ceremony also served as a major international exchange event following the opening of NiEA's new Jiangzicui office. In the future, besides serving as the promotion center for industry alliances, the new office will also become a key platform for international corporate exchange, investment matching, overseas market expansion, and cross-border cooperation—continuously connecting government agencies, enterprises, trade associations, and overseas partners to promote the execution of more cross-border collaboration projects.
